Professor: Embedding Hyperlinks in Questions or Discussions (New Top Hat)
Embedding hyperlinks in Top Hat questions or discussions is a great option if your question is pertaining to content contained on an external website. In order to include a hyperlink within the question or discussion:
- type the phrase you want hyperlinked and wrap it in square brackets - ex. [Top Hat]
- immediately following that type or paste the link itself wrapped in round brackets - ex. (www.tophat.com)
For example, if you wanted to link www.tophat.com to the phrase Top Hat, you would write it as follows: [Top Hat](www.tophat.com)
When the question or discussion is activated, the hyperlinked phrase will appear in blue typeface to indicate it is linked to an external site.
Clicking on the hyperlink will open an additional tab and take you to the linked external website. To return to your Top Hat course simply click on the Top Hat tab on your web browser.
At any point when the question or discussion is available for students (ie. activated in class or assigned as homework or review), the hyperlink will also be accessible to them on their devices.
