Professor: Creating a Pages Content Item (New Top Hat)
Top Hat Pages allows you to develop interactive digital documents with amazing functionality! Alongside your text you can embed pictures, videos, and Top Hat Questions and Discussions!
Please take note that the Pages module in Top Hat is recommended for use with Chrome or Firefox and is not supported by Internet Explorer.
To begin, click the blue Create button on the left hand side of your course page and select Pages Content from the drop down menu. The page editor will then appear on your screen.
Upon creating a new pages document, the first thing you'll likely want to do is assign it an appropriate tag so it's easy to identify in your content dashboard. To do this, click in the grey space in the upper left hand corner of your page editor and type your selected tag. In order for your tag to be applied in your content dashboard you'll want to ensure you save the document.
Next you can give your document a title by highlighting the generic title and inserting your title. When it comes to producing the main body of your text you can simply compose directly into the page editor as a word processor or copy and paste your text into the provided space.
Highlighting a section of text will reveal the text formatting toolbar. For a detailed exploration of this feature please see here: Professor: Pages Formatting Toolbar
Top Hat’s pages is more than a static e-text space, you can also incorporate visual and interactive elements such as images, videos, and Top Hat questions! To begin, press the enter key to create a space in which you can slot in your visual and interactive elements. The Add button will appear and upon clicking it you will be provided with your Visual and Interactive toolbar. For a detailed exploration of this feature please see here: Professor: Pages Visual and Interactive Elements Toolbar (New Top Hat)
Be sure to save regularly but clicking on the blue Save button in the upper right hand corner, and when you're ready to move on to something else you can click Close next to the Save button.
