Professor: Setting a Response Timer on your Question (New Top Hat)
Top Hat provides you with the ability to manually disable student submissions at your convenience, but you can also choose to set a response timer to accompany your question. When the timer elapses it will automatically disable submissions, preventing students from being able to respond to your question any longer.
Setting a timer will limit the amount of time your students have to answer the question. The timer will commence the moment you activate the question so if you choose to use a timer, ensure you provide enough time for your students to read and answer the question.
A question response timer can be set when you first create the question, or you can go back and add the timer to a previously created question.
The moment a question with a timer is activated the timer will commence. The countdown clock will be visible on your projected screen, but not on students' individual devices. Once the timer expires the question will automatically be disabled preventing further student submissions.
Once the question has been automatically disabled, should you wish to reactivate the question, not to worry, simply click the play/enable submissions button to launch the question again and give your students another opportunity to respond.
