Professor: Planning Mode vs. Presentation Mode (New Top Hat)
With the release of the New Top Hat we're excited to introduce two distinct modes: (1) Planning Mode for when you are lesson planning, preparing for your lecture, and creating Top Hat content, and (2) Presentation Mode for when you are presenting your content in class.
This is a very versatile mode and likely the mode you'll spend most of your Top Hat time in, as it is where you can lesson plan, create your Top Hat content, and prepare for your upcoming lecture. It's also where you can preview and edit your content before presenting it or even assign content for homework or review. Clicking on a slide, question, or other Top Hat content item will display it in your preview pane to the right.
When you're in class and ready to start presenting your Top Hat content, you simply want to click on the slide, question, or other Top Hat content item that you'd like to present from the dashboard on the left side of your screen. This will display it in your preview pane to the right, and when you're ready to present to your students, simply click the Present button in the upper right hand corner.
The presentation mode is designed with features optimized for less clicking, and a larger screen when presenting.
To exit presentation mode simply click on the blue button in the bottom left corner to expand your full lecture's content and click the red END button in the centre. This will close the presented content, returning you to the planning mode.
