Resetting your Account Password
Should you forget your Top Hat account password, simply access the Top Hat login page (https://app.tophat.com/login) and click where it says Recover password to request a password reset be sent to the email address associated with your account.

After receiving a password reset, we highly recommend logging into your account and changing your password to something you will remember more easily. The process is the same from both professor and student Top Hat accounts.

Select the Change Password option on the menu on the left-hand side of your page. Type a new password into the provided field and then click the blue Save button.
Multiple Top Hat Accounts
If you received a password reset, but you are still receiving the error message: "Please enter a correct username/email and password. Note that fields are case-sensitive" when trying to log in, you may have created multiple accounts. There are a few reasons students and professors create multiple accounts:
- Some universities provide students with more than one email, such as email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org, which all lead to the same inbox. Although they are essentially the same email for students, Top Hat registers them as two separate emails. This can lead to multiple accounts being created by accident.
- After a student trial account expires, the student may register a whole new account rather than simply extending their subscription.
- When registering an account, you may have mis-spelt your email address and created multiple accounts when encountering login issues.
- You used Top Hat in a previous term and did not remember the log in information for the original account so you simply created a second account.
When trying to access your account, please check alternative emails to see if a Top Hat account might have been created.
