Student: Phone Number Already In Use
By verifying your phone number to your Top Hat account you can use your phone to submit responses during class via text message (SMS). To add your number, simply enter your phone number along with the country code into the appropriate space during registration. To complete the verification process you will receive a 4 digit verification code for you to enter into the appropriate field. Should you encounter the message: "This number is already in use" it could mean that you have already created an account with us!
Sometimes students create two accounts for Top Hat using their personal email as well as their school email. If you tried to verify your number and it did not work then most likely your number is already verified with another account created in the past. At times schools have different email addresses that lead to the same inbox. i.e
These emails can be applied to different accounts on Top Hat so ensure that you are signed into the correct account at all times. Please try signing in here with your different email addresses. Remember, you can always try to recover your password to regain access.
Once your have access to your account again, you can see if your phone number is already associated with your account in your account credentials. To access your current account information, click on your name/email and select "My Account". Once there click on "Phone" and if there is already a number in the space then it has already been verified with your account.
