Student: Managing Your Account Information on a Web Browser

Editing your Top Hat account information, such as your password, username, and email address is easy! This article will walk you through the steps if you're accessing Top Hat using a web browser (ex. a laptop computer), but information on updating your account information from our mobile apps is available here: Student: Managing my Account Information on Mobile

You can update any information from the "My Account" section of your Top Hat account. Ensure you are logged in at and then follow the outlined instructions to update your information:  

Accessing Your Account Information 

To see what account credentials you already have, simply follow the next steps:

  • Click your name in the top-right corner
  • Select "My Account" from the drop-down menu

  • Click on the "Information" tab on the left hand side

From here you can edit your full name, username and email. Please remember to save your edits before moving on.

NOTE: We do not allow spaces or special characters.

Adding or Changing Your School ID

Click on the "Grading Setup" tab on the left hand side to add or adjust your Student ID.

Changing Your Password

Should you ever need to change your password for you account, simply click on Change Password:

Enter your new password and click "Save" to apply the change

Checking Your Subscription:

In your account settings you can see the amount of time remaining for your subscription by choosing the 'Subscription' option.

If you would like to extend your subscription simply click extend.

When you're done changing your account credentials, click the Top Hat Symbol in the top left corner to exit the account settings screen.
